Beta Sigma Beta - Philanthropy

Beta Sigma Beta represents a proud history of philanthropic participation. Of special significance has been our leadership during the 70’s and 80’s of THE REGATTA. Originally created to celebrate the life of Sy Barash, a well known member of the State College community and Beta Sig Brother, this event was dedicated to raising money for the American Cancer Society. In its day, this event grew to being one of the largest philanthropic events among our nation’s colleges.

In more recent years, Beta Sig has taken a leadership role within the State College and PSU community, guiding the Cure Autism Now Campaign. This event combines traditional fund raising with a CAN Race/Walk in the State College area. Many have seen our brothers throughout the Philadelphia and suburban areas, out collecting money on selected weekends. Beta Sig is also active in other charity programs including the Dance Marathon, scholarship programs and others.

Beta Sigma Beta takes seriously its role as part of the broader PSU community, State College and causes that face our nation as a whole.
